Anyone going to the SAR/Crossroads show in Phoenix, AZ?

I was all set to go to this weekend's SAR/Crossroads show but from everything I'm hearing from local buds and also from you fellas, gun shows across the country are stark raving mad houses right about now. Since the trip was gonna' set me back about $300 for gas, hotel, and food alone, I figure to heck with it. I don't really want to drive 5 hours over and 5 hours back and have to deal with a mob while I'm there, paying inflated prices for everything while I do. Maybe I'm just getting old (or am I wising up?).

I'm thinking about skipping it this year, and just buying what I want online. I guess I just don't want to deal with the huge crowds.

Anyone else skipping it, too, or are you planning to go?

I would only do a gun show if the drive can be done in a day.........

The deals to be had are long gone now........EVERYBODY IS IN A FEEDING FRENZY.

There MIGHT be a tappering off in prices if Obama is caught up in more pressing matters( wall street and housing). which is highly likely.

But when you see him breathe a single word about firearms....... the buying panic that will ensue will dwarft anything seen in gun history.

There even could be shootouts at shows(playing right into his hands) because someone gets denied.......... it really may happen.

Strange days have found us.

Wife and I will meet my kid brother in Phoenix this coming weekend for the Crossroads of the West Gun Show. I am going to help him find something...like a 223 auto (Saiga, Mini-14, etc.) a pistol (Glock 19), a shotgun (Remington 870), and as much ammo as he can afford...:bear_w00t:

Well its a 4 hour drive for me but it is the BEST show of the year in these parts. If you have never been to the SAR show you need to go to at least one. There is a full building of full auto and cannons etc. There will be deals there but you have to know what your looking for and how much is too much. Most of the deals will be in the aisles. Be very careful buying/selling the aisles - there are a lot of ATF stings at the Phoenix shows due to the Calif buyers trying to get something off the books so be sure to check ID both ways.

Phoenix, AZ - Three high-ranking Mexican police officers were arrested on allegations of buying weapons and ammunition at a gun show in Phoenix in violation of a law barring noncitizens from purchasing firearms, a U.S. official said Wednesday.

The three had crossed the border at Calexico, Calif., in an official police vehicle and driven to Phoenix, said Tom Mangan, a spokesman with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Police and federal agents arrested them after the three bought three guns and about 450 rounds of ammunition Saturday at the gun show, Mangan said.

It appeared the officers were buying the handguns for their personal use, he said.

Booked on state weapons misconduct and conspiracy were Carlos Alberto Flores, 36, a Baja California state police director; Baja State Police Commander Guillermo Valle Medina, 33; and Jose Santos Cortes Gonzalez, 41, a federal police commander in Baja California.

Flores and Cortes posted $2,000 bond each and were released from jail, and Valle was released on personal recognizance, Mangan said.

A woman who answered the telephone in Flores' office in La Paz said he was still in charge but not in the office or available for comment. Alejandra Borquez, a spokeswoman for the Mexican state's Office of Public Safety, said she had not heard of the arrests.

Local police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents monitoring the gun show overheard Gonzalez negotiating with a dealer for two guns, then watched as he bought them, according to a police report. Gonzalez and Flores met up with Valle and continued buying ammunition and gun supplies before leaving, the report states.

Police stopped their vehicle after they left the gun show, according to the report.

Mangan said Mexican officials have been pressuring U.S. officials to cut off the supply of weapons going south.

"It is ironic we are receiving a great deal of criticism regarding our efforts to stem the tide of illegal weapons, and then we have three law enforcement officers trying to buy weapons here," Mangan said.

Licensed dealers in Arizona must check identification documents and run background checks, but private sellers operate without those rules.

The guns were bought from a private seller, Mangan said.

Associated Press writer Olga Rodriguez in Mexico City contributed to this report.

A bunch of folks like to shop in Phoenix! HaHaHAaaaaa! :bear_w00t:
One of the funniest comments in the blog was "Buying the guns Americans wont buy."

From talking to a old Class 3 Dealer that moved from Maine to Nevada around the same time I was moving my business. I expect its an excellent show.

I dont know if any of you here are old enough to remember the SOF show in Las Vegas or the Gun show at the Pomona fairgrounds in the early 80's It was called the Great Western show before it moved to Pomona Fair Grounds, I expect the SAR show is just like those if not better.

Back then it was before the days when BATF tightened up the rules and you could buy Mac10 flats and or suppressor "Rebuild" kits in plastic bags.

Now days those neat kind of things are regulated beyond the imagination.
